I’ve learned more in RE than any other subject, especially about things that matter like ethical issues.
The Religious Education Council of England and Wales (REC) www.religiouseducationcouncil.org.uk provides support and monitors the quality of the award.
These comprise academic and professional associations specialising in religions and religious education. The RE Council also includes the individual religion and belief organisations which represent the range of faith communities found nationally, including the British Humanist Association. The RE Council’s shared priority is to strengthen the quality of provision for religious education.
I’ve learned more in RE than any other subject, especially about things that matter like ethical issues.
The REQM made us realise the importance of the role we can play in the local community, both in terms of developing dialogue and promoting the value of RE. These are all things we have done in the past, but the REQM served as a timely reminder that these aspects of an excellent RE department also ultimately result in an improved experience for our pupils.
RE brings religion to life.
I like heated debates ad discussion in RE as they show me how passionate we can be about topics. In a discussion you listen and accept and then present your view, but a debate is better because you get to analyse and challenge other people’s beliefs, and in the process you get challenged!
We have found out about what it is important to other people and that makes us think what is important to us.
We ask such difficult questions in RE that even our teacher can’t answer them!
Join the REQM community and help to build an effective RE in your setting and across the wider education world.
